Cash Blox: a block-stacking puzzle with a prize table

No reels at all: coloured blocks fall into a well and cleared lines pay from a four-column prize table. What the NTC33 screens show.

The grid on the right of the Cash Blox screen is a well of dark squares, and pieces of four coloured blocks drop into it: cyan bars, orange squares, purple T-shapes, green zigzags. If you grew up with a Game Boy you'll know exactly what's going on. The difference is that you don't steer anything. You press PLAY, the pieces fall and settle, and the game pays you for the lines it clears.

The prize table

The left half of the screen is the paytable, and it changes with your stake. It has four columns (Singles, Doubles, Triples, Quads, meaning how many lines clear in one go) and four rows with small arrows pointing up between them.

At a MYR0.10 stake the rows read, from bottom to top:

  • MYR0.01, 0.02, 0.10, 0.40
  • MYR0.04, 0.08, 0.60, 4
  • MYR0.20, 0.40, 3, 40
  • MYR1, 2, 30, 400

At MYR0.01 everything drops by ten and the lower cells round to MYR0.00. The arrows suggest you climb the rows as the game goes on, so a Quad late in a game pays far more than one early. That's my reading of the layout. The screenshots don't show a climb happening, so check the help screen.

Freeplays and buttons

On the right edge there's a FREEPLAYS counter (zero in every capture), a little rainbow square and three lines of text: lines formed with a Magic Block award 10 FREEPLAYS, all wins are DOUBLED during freeplay, and it can be re-triggered. Under that sit WINNINGS and STAKE.

The buttons along the bottom are BET minus, BET plus, SLOW MODE, AUTO PLAY and PLAY. SLOW MODE is new to me on an app casino; I assume it slows the drop so you can follow it. The screens show MYR rather than RM.

It's an odd one in the NTC33 lobby. If you want something equally simple but with reels, Fruit Mania or Chao Ji 888 are the closest. For another non-slot, there's the Fish Prawn Crab dice table.
