88 Fortune: gold symbols, an Active Symbol button and four jackpot boxes

The paytable of 88 Fortune has two prices for almost every picture. A green jade phoenix pays 50 for five, and the same bird in gold pays 1,000. Dark green turtle 50, gold turtle 400. Silver ingots 50, gold ingots 250. That split is the whole idea of the game, and it explains the odd button in the bottom-left corner.
Reel ways and the gold symbols
The panel marked REEL WAYS says winning combinations pay left to right in any position, so there are no numbered lines down the sides. The wild is a red square with the Fu character, and it only appears on reels 2, 3 and 4. The scatter is a round bronze ball in a green frame, paying 5, 10 and 50 for three, four and five.
Top right of the game screen is a strip labelled ACTIVE SYMBOL with five small icons: a coin, then the ingot, turtle, junk and phoenix. Bottom left is a big red ACTIVE SYMBOL button. My reading is that this is where you choose which symbols count as gold, and that the cost of a spin goes up with each one. The old page said the same thing in its own words (extra gold symbols cost more credits). No shot shows the menu open, so treat that as likely, not confirmed.
Jackpots and the bet
Four boxes sit over the reels: GRAND around 6,500, MAJOR 1,100 to 1,600, MINOR 600 to 750 and MINI 130 to 150. The lower three moved between captures, so they aren't fixed prizes. A treasure bowl full of coins sits over reel 3.
The bet row is simple: ACTIVE SYMBOL, LINE BET with arrows, a TOTAL BET and WIN box, AUTO and SPIN. At a line bet of 0.01 the total was 0.50; at 0.10 it was 5.00. That's a steep jump, so start low.

Why does 88 Fortune cost 5.00 a spin at a 0.10 line bet?
The TOTAL BET box shows 5.00 at LINE BET 0.10 and 0.50 at 0.01, so a spin costs 50 times the line bet in these shots. The ACTIVE SYMBOL setting sits next to it and probably changes that figure, but none of the captures shows it being changed.
How do you win the GRAND jackpot in 88 Fortune?
The screenshots don't say. The old page linked the jackpot to how many gold symbols you pay for, which fits the Active Symbol row on screen, but I couldn't confirm the rule. Check the ? screen in the game.
