Pay Dirt: a dog with a nugget in its teeth, a pack donkey and a PAYDIRT signpost

The wooden sign that says PAYDIRT only turns up once in these six captures, top right on reel 5, and it's the one tile with a blue frame round it. Everything else on Mega888's Pay Dirt is a cartoon gold-rush camp in tan and brown, with a water tower and log cabins on the skyline behind the counters.

What's on the reels

Pay Dirt is a 5-reel, 3-row slot with 25 lines, numbered in coloured tabs down both sides. There are no card letters at all. Every symbol is a picture:

• a bearded prospector in a yellow hat with a pickaxe over his shoulder
• a bandit in a green hat and red bandana holding a revolver
• a grinning brown dog with a gold nugget in its teeth
• a grey pack donkey with saddlebags
• a wooden hut with a MINE sign
• a gold pan, a gold cart, a pickaxe, a lantern and a crate of dynamite

In that spin the dog landed on reels 1, 3 and 4 of the top row plus once more on reel 5, but the only line switched on was line 1, across the middle, so it paid nothing.

Bets and counters

The top bar is the Mega888 frame you'll see on several older slots: BALANCE, BET and WIN in wooden boards, a BACK button, then MINOR on the left, RANDOM JACKPOT in the middle and MAJOR on the right. The random jackpot sits around 9,300 to 9,650 across the shots, much bigger than the other two.

The first capture was taken with all 25 lines at 0.04 a line, a BET of 1.00. The rest are at 1 line and 0.01, which is how the balance only slips from 14.32 to 14.27 over five spins.
