Joker123: the GP bet bar, the table games and a tour of the slots

Six small tiles sit above the big JOKER logo in this artwork: Lucky Roulette, Dragon Tiger, Belangkai, Baccarat, HuLu and Sicbo. That's a good summary of what makes Joker123 a bit different from the other apps on this site. Next to the slots it carries the dice and card games many Malaysians know from CNY gatherings: Belangkai with its red dice, and HuLu (Hulu Cock), the gourd-and-crab dice game that's a close cousin of Hoo Hey How.

Joker123 is also called Joker Gaming, or just Joker. It's a lobby of its own games rather than a reseller, so the slots share one look and one bet bar.

Accounts, top-ups and cuci

There's no public registration. An agent or provider sets up a Joker123 game ID and password for you, you top up with them (bank transfer or e-wallet, usually), and they load the credit. When you want your money out, the cuci goes through the same agent.

So the agent matters more than the app. Before sending anything, ask how long a cuci takes and whether there's a minimum. Start with a small top-up and keep your receipts. If the agent disappears, nobody else can pay you.

GP, and the shared bet bar

The first thing that confuses new players: inside the games, nothing is in RM. Balances, bets and wins are all shown in GP. A typical capture reads PLAY 0.01 GP (per line), TOTAL PLAY 0.09 GP and WIN 0.00 GP. The lobby itself shows the balance in MYR. Ask your provider how the two relate before you play.

Every slot we've looked at uses the same bar at the bottom: LINES, PLAY with minus and plus, TOTAL PLAY, WIN and SPIN (hold it for auto spin). Watch TOTAL PLAY, not PLAY: at the same 0.01 GP a line, a 9-line game costs 0.09 GP a spin and a 50-line one costs 0.50 GP.

Across the top there's either a MAJOR, RANDOM and MINOR jackpot bar or, on the progressive games, four boxes from GRAND to MINI. On some progressives those boxes sit at 0.00 at the minimum bet.

A tour of the game pages

We've written up 20 Joker123 slots from their own screenshots. Where to start:

Games with a full paytable in the captures. Safari Heat has a lion wild that doubles wins and 15 free games at x3. Sparta has a warrior wild that covers a whole reel, and its paytable corrects the old page's multiplier. Silver Bullet is the odd one where a single barrel on a line pays.

Bonus rounds on camera. Ocean Paradise takes you through a treasure-chest pick round from trigger to payout, and Jungle Island shows its chameleon scatter bonus.

Chinese themes. Three Kingdoms has a bonus game that runs up to three times, and Lucky God 2 is the God of Fortune with Fa wilds and up to 50 free spins.

The jackpot catch. Highway Kings JP and Silver Bullet Progressive both show jackpot boxes at 0.00 at the cheapest bet, which is worth understanding before you chase a progressive.

Before you play

• Know what GP is worth. A bet that looks tiny in GP may not be tiny in ringgit.
• Read the jackpot rules. At least one Joker123 info screen pays only 50% of the jackpot below a certain bet.
• The old pages were copied from other sites. Line counts, multipliers and max wins in them were often wrong for these versions. Ours only say what the screens show.
