The jackpot boxes are the giveaway. In the one screenshot where the bet is 0.06 GP a line, GRAND, MAJOR, MINOR and MINI read 599.63, 281.48, 52.55 and 42.67. In the four taken at 0.01 GP a line, all four read 0.00. Highway Kings JP is the jackpot build of the trucker slot, and at the minimum stake you're not playing for those boxes at all.

What the JP version changes

The reels are the same idea as plain Highway Kings: 5 by 3, nine lines, truck parts instead of card letters. The symbol set is a little different. There's a spark plug and a pair of blue gas cylinders, a red jerry can instead of the oil can, and the top truck is blue rather than red.

The info screen is laid out in four panels:

  • Odds: steering wheel and tyre 50/10/3, piston and dice 200/25/5, spark plug and gas cylinders 300/50/10/2, jerry can and green truck 1000/150/20/5, yellow truck 5000/250/25/5, blue truck 10000/500/50/10/2.
  • Rules: wins pay left to right and right to left, and a full line of five only pays once.
  • Scatter: pays hits times TOTAL PLAY, 100, 10, 5 and 1 for five down to two, counted as consecutive scatters on the reels.
  • Wild and jackpot: the red truck is wild and a line of consecutive wilds pays double. A gift-box panel says "Bet more than 50 can activate the jackpot game", with MIN BET 50 at 50% and 100 or more at 100%.

It doesn't say what unit that 50 is, and I can't see the jackpot game itself in any capture. Going by the screenshots, 0.54 GP a spin was enough to show amounts in the boxes and 0.09 GP wasn't.

The wins at 0.01 GP a line are small: 0.11, 0.02 and 0.02 GP. One of the 0.02 wins comes from a V-shaped line with a scatter sitting on reel 4.

Why do the jackpot boxes in Highway Kings JP show 0.00?

In every capture taken at 0.01 GP a line (0.09 GP a spin) all four boxes read 0.00. In the one capture at 0.06 GP a line (0.54 GP a spin) they show amounts. The info screen says a bet of more than 50 activates the jackpot game, 50 gives 50% and 100 or more gives 100%. It doesn't say which unit that 50 is in, so check with the game before you rely on it.
